 Choreographer Biography Minimize

Debra has been a professional dancer and choreographer for over twenty five years. She was the Chair of the Physical Education Department at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts for eight years. She has delighted in choreographing over thirty theatrical productions.  Her dance background in ballet, modern dance, jazz dance, fencing and gymnastics has been the foundation of her teaching and choreography but she still delights in the research required for dance forms such as Haitian dance when she choreographed the musical “Once On This Island” in 2007. She has staged and danced in numerous productions at such wonderful venues as the John Anson Ford Theatre,  the Warner Grand, Center Stage Theatre, and at the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland.  She has taught dance classes to children, disabled dancers, and incarcerated women.  She has taught Historical Dance at Theatricum Botanicum, “Movement for Actors” at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and wrote her Master’s Thesis on “The Physicalization of a Role.”  Debra is also a certified Hatha Yoga Instructor and continues to be a student of yoga.
